Disney+ dropped the official trailer for the new Star Wars Series, “Andor,” Aug. 1, and thousands of fans immediately flocked to the internet to catch a glimpse.
The film ad showcases the crisp visual effects of the movie and promises a storyline that will mesmerize fans. The video revealed Forest Whitaker will once again reprise his Rogue One role as the character Saw Gerrera, and gives fans a close-up look at Diego Luna in character.
The 12-episode series will launch with a three-episode premiere Sept. 21, according to Disney+.
Luna will reportedly be featured prominently throughout the piece. He joins a strong cast of talented artists: Genevieve O’Reilly, Stellan Skarsgård, Adria Arjona, Denise Gough, Kyle Soller and Fiona Shaw are all on board for this project, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
“Andor” is said to offer a fresh, new perspective to the Star Wars galaxy, putting the focus on Cassian Andor as he challenges himself to discover the different elements he can bring to his character during his quest, according to Hollywood Reporter. The series will tackle such subject matter as the rebellion against the Empire and how people and planets became entangled in a danger-filled era, according to the Hollywood Reporter. The film is set against a series of urban and rural backdrops, abandoning the desert planet settings traditionally used in older versions of the film, according to the Hollywood Reporter.
Star Wars fans will be taken on an action-packed adventure as Cassian embarks on a journey that turns him into a “rebel hero,” the outlet noted.
Kathleen Kennedy, Tony Gilroy, Sanne Wohlenberg, Diego Luna and Michelle Rejwan are the executive producers for this project, with Tony Gilroy as the movie’s creator and showrunner, according to Hollywood Reporter.
