Actress Anne Heche is not expected to survive her injuries and currently remains on life support while doctors attempt to carry out her wishes to be an organ donor.
Heche’s representative indicated that she “suffered a severe anoxic brain injury” as a result of the fiery crash Aug. 5, according to Page Six. The actress has not regained consciousness and remains in a coma on life support at the Grossman Burn Center at West Hills Hospital and Medical Center in California.
“It has long been her choice to donate her organs,” her representative said. The representative relayed that the focus had been shifted from recovery to Heche’s final plans, and revealed that at this time, she “is being kept on life support to determine if any are viable,” according to Page Six.
The dire news was delivered alongside a moment of gratitude and appreciation for the outpouring of love and support shown for Heche in recent days, as well as a moment of thanks for those who came to the aid of the actress in her time of need. Heche’s representative thanked her fan base “for their kind wishes and prayers,” as well as “the dedicated staff and wonderful nurses” who have provided ongoing medical care, according to Page Six. “Anne had a huge heart and touched everyone she met with her generous spirit. Heche’s Mini Cooper plowed into a home in Los Angeles and burst into flames, Friday. The actress was previously reported as having suffered “a significant pulmonary injury requiring mechanical ventilation and burns that require surgical intervention.” Her condition has recently moved from “critical” to ‘dire,” according to Page Six. A warrant issued by the Los Angeles Police Department determined that Heche had cocaine in her system at time of the collision.
