Nickelodeon star Alexa Nikolas attended a protest in front of the Nickelodeon Studios, saying that she wanted future child stars to be spared from trauma at the company’s hands.

Nikolas, who formerly starred on Nickelodeon’s “Zoey 101,” says she was traumatized by her experiences during her time on the show. She showed up to protest in an effort to raise awareness. “I wanna make things safe for kids, because in my personal experience working on Zoey 101… didn’t feel safe,” Nikolas said to TMZ. “I didn’t feel like Nickelodeon was protecting me or had my best interests in mind,” she said.

The protests were fueled by a recent interview with Jennette McCurdy, in which she claimed that Nickelodeon representatives gave her alcohol when she was a eighteen and put her in very uncomfortable situations, which she dealt with for fear of losing her job. She went on to allege the studio offered her hush money to conceal the misconduct.

“And so after hearing so many different stories from different Nick stars it feels like enough is enough,” Nikolas said. “I have to come here to face my childhood trauma once and for all and then just leave this behind,” Nikolas said to TMZ. The actress was asked if she felt there was any possibility for Nickelodeon to make amends. She responded by saying she felt she and all others victimized by their representatives, deserved an apology.

“I think anyone is redeemable if they actually do the right things moving forward, but they haven’t even given a comment and I find that just really awful because Jennette and all of us deserve an apology,” Nikolas said to TMZ.

The reporter asked Nikolas if she would ever consider returning back to “Zoey 101” to which she immediately responded “no.”

“Never in a million years, it was so traumatic, I would be triggered day one,” she said.
