“The Chi” star Barton Fitzpatrick was held at gunpoint during a horrifying ordeal early Sunday morning in West Chicago.
The actor is lucky to be alive and the Chicago Police Department is now investigating the matter, according to TMZ. Law enforcement officers say Fitzpatrick was in the passenger seat of a vehicle when someone he did not know slid into the back seat unexpectedly. The suspect was brandishing a gun. Sources close to the situation said the suspect attempted to carjack the vehicle but ended up abandoning that plan, according to TMZ.

At some point during the interaction, the suspect robbed Fitzpatrick of some of his personal items, including a chain that belonged to the actor, according to TMZ.

No injuries were reported, and it remains unclear if the robber stole anything else. Police continue to investigate the situation and are attempting to locate the suspect.
Barton is best known for playing the role of Reg, a gang leader in the hit series, “The Chi.” His character was featured on the show from 2018-2019 and appeared in 16 episodes before the character was killed by a rival gang, according to TMZ.
Fitzpatrick has not yet issued a public statement about the incident.
