THE ABORTIONS WILL CONTINUE UNTIL MORALE IMPROVES… MSNBC Analyst Presses Stacey Abrams On Struggling Economy. She Says, That’s Why We Need Abortions (VIDEO)
“Let’s be clear: having children is why you’re worried about your price or gas, it’s why you’re concerned about how much food costs. For women, this is not a reductive issue,” Abrams said. “You can’t divorce being forced to carry an unwanted pregnancy from the economic realities of having a child. And so these are, it’s, it’s important for us to have both, and conversations.”
“We don’t have the luxury of reducing it or separating them out,” she continued.
Abrams said as governor she would have the ability to “address housing prices” and the cost of education.
“But let’s not pretend that women, half the population, especially those of child-bearing age, they understand that having a child is absolutely an economic issue,” she added. “It is a real biological and economic imperative conversation that we need to have.”
MEASURING INFLATION… CNBC: The typical U.S. household is spending $445 more a month due to inflation.
Inflation is causing American households to spend $445 more per month buying the same items they did a year ago, according to an estimate from Moody’s Analytics.
Consumer prices jumped by 8.2% in September versus the same month in 2021, the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics said Thursday. That rate is down from 9.1% in June, which marked the recent peak, but is still near the highest levels since the early 1980s.
Wages for many workers haven’t kept pace with inflation, meaning they’ve lost purchasing power. Hourly earnings fell 3%, on average, in the year to September after accounting for inflation, according to the bureau.
ANOTHER GAS PRICE STUNT… BIDEN EMPTIES EMERGENCY RESERVES AGAIN, REFUSES TO INCREASE DRILLING… WAPO: Biden putting gas prices front and center as midterms loom
Today, with less than three weeks remaining until the midterms, President Biden is scheduled to announce more actions to address the cost of gasoline, including plans to move ahead with releasing 15 million more barrels of oil from the nation’s stockpile known as the Strategic Petroleum Reserve. Gas prices — and the cost of living more broadly — remain a potent political issue.
Later Wednesday, President Biden plans to highlight the latest steps in his administration’s push to bolster the country’s use of electric vehicles, including $2.8 billion in Department of Energy grants to expand domestic manufacturing of batteries in a dozen states.
BIDEN SAVES HIS CRAZIEST SH*T FOR PARTY FUNDRAISERS… WAPO: Party gatherings give a window into Biden’s mind, from nukes to Pelosi
In just the past few weeks, Biden has told donors that Donald Trump and his followers are verging on “semi-fascism.” He warned that Russian President Vladimir Putin’s actions are risking nuclear “Armageddon.” He derided the Supreme Court as an “advocacy group.” He called Pakistan a highly dangerous country, and he suggested Italy is sliding into authoritarianism. […]
Biden similarly caught his staff by surprise during a fundraiser in August when he launched into the anti-democratic forces he said Trump had unleashed. “It’s not just Trump, it’s the entire philosophy,” Biden elaborated before pausing, perhaps considering whether he wanted to say what he wanted to say.
“I’m going to say something,” he said. “It’s like semi-fascism.”
White House aides said later they were taken aback less by the sentiment — they knew it was how Biden felt — as by his decision to voice it in a quasi-public setting.
KAMALA IS ALREADY ON HER THIRD NEW CHIEF SPEECH WRITER… POLITICO: Harris hires a new head scribe
Vice President KAMALA HARRIS has a new chief speechwriter.
DAVE CAVELL, who most recently wrote speeches for climate envoy JOHN KERRY and worked as a speechwriter in the final year of the Obama White House, has joined Harris’ office, people familiar with the move told West Wing Playbook. The vice president and her team were attracted to his resume, including his past experience writing for Massachusetts Attorney General MAURA HEALEY and former Massachusetts Gov. DEVAL PATRICK. But another selling point Cavell brought with him is that he’s a lawyer like both Harris and her husband.
Cavell is the third chief speechwriter for the vice president, who has tried to hone her voice in a role historically difficult to navigate.
MODERNA CEO: HEALTHY PEOPLE CAN SKIP COVID BOOSTERS… DAILY MAIL: Moderna’s CEO admits only the vulnerable need a COVID booster and likens the virus to flu
Not everyone needs to get an annual Covid booster, according to the head of pharma giant Moderna who also likened the virus to seasonal flu.
Stéphane Bancel said his company’s shots should mainly be targeted at over-50s and people with underlying health conditions.
His comments seem to be at odds with the Centers for Disease Prevention and Control (CDC) which is urging everyone over the age of five to get boosted. […]
Mr Bancel told a finance conference on Monday: ‘I think it’s going to be like the flu. If you’re a 25-year-old, do you need an annual booster every year if you’re healthy?
‘You might want to… but I think it’s going to be similar to flu where it’s going to be people at high-risk, people above 50 years of age, people with comorbidities, people with cancer and other conditions, people with transplants.’
BOSTON UNIVERSITY LABS DIRECTOR: WE DIDN’T HAVE TO TELL THE FEDS WE MADE A KILLER COVID VIRUS… STAT NEWS: BU lab wasn’t required to clear potentially controversial study with NIH, director says
The director of a Boston University laboratory that conducted potentially controversial research on the viruses that cause Covid-19 said his institution didn’t clear the work with the National Institutes of Health because it wasn’t funded by the federal agency.
Ronald Corley said the research, which was designed to explore what makes some SARS-CoV-2 viruses more pathogenic than others, was paid for with money from the university itself. The work was approved by the institutional biosafety committee of BU’s National Emerging Infectious Diseases Laboratories, and by Boston’s Public Health Commission.
Scientists from the BU facility posted results from their work in a preprint, a study that has yet to go through peer review. The British tabloid The Daily Mail published an explosive article about the work on Monday, suggesting the group had fabricated a more dangerous version of the SARS-2 Omicron variant.
WAIT A SEC… JUST A DAY BEFORE… FEDS SAY BU *DID* RECEIVE FEDERAL FUNDING FOR RESEARCH… STAT NEWS: Boston University researchers’ testing of lab-made version of Covid virus draws government scrutiny
But it has become apparent that the research team did not clear the work with the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, which was one of the funders of the project. The agency indicated it is going to be looking for some answers as to why it first learned of the work through media reports.
Emily Erbelding, director of NIAID’s division of microbiology and infectious diseases, said the BU team’s original grant applications did not specify that the scientists wanted to do this precise work. Nor did the group make clear that it was doing experiments that might involve enhancing a pathogen of pandemic potential in the progress reports it provided to NIAID.
“I think we’re going to have conversations over upcoming days,” Erbelding told STAT in an interview.
Asked if the research team should have informed NIAID of its intention to do the work, Erbelding said: “We wish that they would have, yes.”
DR. RICHARD EBRIGHT, MOLECULAR BIOLOGIST, RUTGERS UNIVERSITY: Four separate NIH grants were acknowledged in the BU preprint…but the BU facility director tries to sell the brazen lie that NIH funds were not used, or at most were used to copy a published system for making plasmids. (THREAD)
THE LEFT ALL BUT IGNORES THE PSYCHO VIRUS BOSTON UNIVERSITY CREATED IN A LAB… NO, NOT AOC… DAVID STROM: Surprise! Conservatives are covering the BU Frankenvirus story. MSM? Not so much
Is the Left-leaning media trying to hide the stunning news that Boston University and the Cleveland Clinic created a Frankenstein COVID virus with an 80% kill rate?
That is what an analysis from Ground News is telling us. […]
“Interestingly, left-leaning media has almost entirely ignored this story. As of now, 89% of the coverage of the story is from right-leaning news sources. The only coverage from left-leaning news sources are articles that are reporting on the universities push back to the story.”
KARI LAKE GROUND AND POUNDS THE MEDIA… Kari Lake Spends Two Straight Minutes Berating The Media About ‘Election Deniers’ (VIDEO)
Republican Arizona gubernatorial candidate Kari Lake spent two minutes berating the media about “election deniers” after taking questions from the press at one of her Black Voices For Kari “Ask Me Anything Tour” stop.
Lake visited Phoenix where she and Jack Brewer discussed her upcoming race.
Lake stopped for questions after her speech when she was asked about claims that she is an election denier. Lake whipped out several pages of “research” done by a 20-year-old named Anthony highlighting all the times Democrats have denied election outcomes.
“You did better research than half these people,” Lake said to Anthony before turning her attention toward the gaggle.
“Let’s talk about election deniers, here’s 150 examples of Democrats denying election results,” she said, holding up the papers. “Oh wow, look at this, this is from Joe Biden’s press secretary: ‘reminder, Brian Kemp stole the gubernatorial election from Georgians and Stacey Abrams,’ a Democrat saying that, an election denier!”
REPUBLICAN YESLI VEGA CATCHES FIRE IN BLUE VIRGINIA DISTRICT… REP. ABIGAIL SPANBERGER SCRAMBLES TO BENCH SURROGATE WHO TRIED TO CRIMINALIZE PARENTING… WAPO: Hispanic voters could be ‘key’ in competitive Vega-Spanberger race
Here in Northern Virginia, the GOP’s overtures to Hispanic voters could not be more evident as Vega, the first Latina elected to the Prince William Board of County Supervisors, seeks to become Virginia’s first Hispanic congresswoman as well.
Locked in a highly competitive race with Rep. Abigail Spanberger (D-Va.), Vega is one of a record 31 GOP Hispanic nominees — including 11 incumbents — on the ballot across the country this year, according to the National Republican Congressional Committee. In Virginia, her candidacy also follows a broader trend of the GOP running with more diverse candidates, coming on the heels of last year’s victories of Attorney General Jason S. Miyares, the first Latino elected statewide, and Winsome Earle-Sears, the state’s first Black female lieutenant governor and a Jamaican immigrant. […]
CASA in Action — the immigrant rights organization that has clashed with Vega and endorsed Spanberger — has spent roughly $78,000 in its canvassing efforts supporting Spanberger. Del. Elizabeth R. Guzman (D-Prince William) had also been leading some Hispanic outreach canvassing for Spanberger, though recently incurred Republican ire after WJLA reported that she planned to introduce a bill that could allow child abuse investigations into parents who did not “affirm” their children’s LGBTQ identities, which Spanberger said she did not support, and which Guzman said had been mischaracterized. The campaign said Tuesday that Guzman is no longer doing Hispanic outreach “at this time.”
DC WOMAN ASKS YOUNG MEN TO STOP CURSING ON BUS… THEY ASSAULT HER AND THROW HER OUT THE DOOR… FOX 5: EXCLUSIVE: Woman pushed off DC Metro bus (VIDEO)
[Kyla] Thurston spoke with FOX 5’s Melanie Alnwick Wednesday and told her the situation began after she asked a group of youth sitting nearby to stop using foul language after she gave up her seat to a young woman who came onboard the bus with her young children.
“At that point, the kids became unruly. They started being disrespectful, like saying things to me,” Thurston said. “Then next thing you know, there were objects being throw at me, and I was just like, ‘Thank You, Lord,’ because throughout the whole incident the only thing I could recall was the kids hitting me and kicking me – and I had no defense.”
Thurston said she asked the bus driver numerous times to stop, but the bus kept moving. “The bus driver made no attempt to stop the bus. He didn’t alert local authorities or anything to my defense,” she said. “Even after I’m yelling at the top of my lungs, ‘Stop the bus – let me off the bus,’ the bus driver never stopped.”
