The parents of self-proclaimed murderer Brian Laundrie want an apology from “Celebrity Jeopardy” after the game show made reference to Gabby Petito’s murder and Laundrie’s subsequent suicide in one of the clues on their show.

Steven Bertolino, the attorney for the Laundrie family relayed that the Laundrie family is upset after learning of the distasteful clue that was presented on the show. “The entire Laundrie family is appalled and concurs with all of the comments on social media on how distasteful this was. I believe an apology is due,” Bertolino said to TMZ.

The clue in question made direct reference to the murder case. “In 2021 Fugitive Brian Laundrie Ended His Days In Fla.’s Myakkahatchee Creek Area, Home to These Long & Toothy Critters,” was read aloud on the show as the clue for the next question.

The answer was, “What are alligators?”

People swarmed social media to express their discontent and dismay over the seemingly inappropriate reference on the show. “Celebrity Jeopardy” was slammed for  bringing up the deaths of Gabby Petito and Brian Laundrie in an inappropriate manner, with many feeling the show was making light of their situation, according to TMZ. Laundrie killed Petito in Wyoming in 2021 during the couple’s cross-country road trip. Law enforcements located Laundrie’s deceased body after a massive manhunt, and found a suicide note admitting to Petito’s murder, according to TMZ.
