Now this is romance.
Belarussian club FC Smorgon soccer player Vladislav Shubovich had plans to propose to his long-time girlfriend right in the middle of a game, and against their rival team Volna Pinsk at that. However, a security guard apparently had different plans as he pushed away Shubovich’s future bride.
The ideal moment for the proposal came in the 85th minute of the game, when Shubovich scored a goal, which didn’t happen much due to the star being a defender — it was only his second career goal to help his team secure the 2-0 victory.
When he landed the score, Shubovich called for his girlfriend to come to the touchline. The soccer player got down on one knee, about to ask the biggest question he’s probably ever asked in his life. And then, it happened: a male security guard got in the middle of the couple, and with some pretty solid force, pushed Shubovich’s bride-to-be.

Shubovich understandably appeared pretty pissed off, shoving back the security guard and then getting in his face, and then all of his teammates came over and it looked like they were about to jump the guard. Eventually, a referee broke everything up, sending the security guard back over towards the crowd. I’m glad everything turned out well. With all of the circumstances of what I just mentioned earlier — it was his girlfriend, it happened in the middle of a soccer game, it was against their rivals, he scored only his second career goal, the goal sealed the win for his team — yeah, that could have ended up very badly for Shubovich and his future wife.
Let’s just all be glad that didn’t happen, despite the massive entertainment value it would have provided.
