A farmer from North Wales, UK, recently described in an interview with “Ancient Aliens” what he believes was an extraterrestrial experience that occurred in 1974.

Huw Lloyd was just 14 years old when he witnessed a strange incident on Jan. 23, 1974 between the villages of Llandderfel and Llandrillo in the Berwyn Mountains of north Wales, according to the Daily Post. The event occurred in the evening, and reportedly started with a large bang, followed by earth tremors akin to an earthquake. Wales is not a seismically active region of the world, despite minor tremors sometimes occurring along old faults in the surrounding geology.

Other witnesses say that a bright, blinding light came first, descending from the sky above the hills. It fell to the ground, where it glowed on the hillside for all to see, the Daily Post continued.

“It was roughly 8:40 p.m.,” Lloyd told “Ancient Aliens” host Giorgio Tsoukalos. “I was at home with my two sisters and my neighbour, basically watching television, and there was, like, a thud. The next thing, the whole place started shaking quite violently, like an earth tremor. We were all a bit stunned. We had never experienced anything like that before.”

Lloyd said his family went outside to ensure their cattle were okay, and when they got back into their home, the phone started ringing. It was the neighbors, all of them asking “what the hell was that? Are you okay?”

It was initially assumed that a plane crashed on the hillside, but when military personnel reportedly started showing up in the area, nothing was found or confirmed … officially (which means nothing). A slew of police reports came into the Gwynedd Police that night, confirming what everyone saw and felt, many of which were shared in another report from the outlet.

Another witness came forward in 2010 with even spookier claims than Lloyd. “We just saw this huge ball glowing and pulsating on the mountain,” she said. “Some lights seemed to be scattered around it and I just wish we’d stayed to see what the end result was – whether it would just disappear or fly away,” Pat Evans claimed.

Declassified documents later suggested that the event was an earthquake and meteor impact, which was witnessed across Wales and England at the time. However, no crater was ever identified, and the Institute of Geological Sciences said the quake was barely a magnitude 3.5, nowhere near strong enough to cause the shaking witnesses described. Wales, an ancient country with a culture that long, long predates the current English rulership, monarchy, and even the Roman empire. Welsh writers have often described supernatural phenomena in the rolling hills and valleys of the beautiful country, and as far as I’m concerned, these wonderful secrets can stay as such so they won’t get destroyed by the rest of the world.
